COUNTRY HOE DOWN
SATURDAY, JUNE 12 NOON - 5 PM

Yeehaw! It's Country Hoe Down time! Enjoy a day in the country with your farmed animal friends, and learn what you can do to protect them. After sanctuary tours and critter cuddle time, we'll gather in our gazebo for educational presentations to give you the information, resources, and tools you need to be an active advocate for farmed animals. This year's Country Hoe Down is focused on getting involved in vegan outreach efforts in Los Angeles - from our local vegan toastmaster club to planning a Vegetarian Pride Parade! The Hoe Down will conclude with a country cookout and "cowtail party." For further information and ticket purchases, please click here. Special thanks to our Country Hoe Down Sponsors: Gardein, Sierra Nevada Brewery, Sexy Vegan, and Tofutti.

HELP FARMED ANIMALS 24/7

Animal rescue work is often 24/7, so we need your support 24/7 too! Please help farmed animals every day of the year by joining our Monthly Pledge Program. Your support will provide the guaranteed funding we need - when we need it most. It's a convenient way to ensure you keep Animal Acres programs going - you can choose to support our rescue efforts, cruelty investigations, humane education, or general program funding needs. Your donation of just $5 a month will keep our doors open and ensure that Los Angeles has a premier farmed animal sanctuary and compassionate learning center. Please be a vital part of Animal Acres - click here now to join our Monthly Pledge Program today.

BOLD NATIVE FILM PREMIER & SPECIAL SHOWINGS

Bold Native, the first fiction film about animal liberation (starring several residents of Animal Acres!), will World Premiere on June 16th at the Majestic Crest Theater in Westwood, near UCLA. There will also be an encore screening June 18th at the TreePeople outdoor amphitheater with musical guests. The filmmakers and speakers will be in attendance at both events. A limited number of tickets are available to the Red Carpet premiere event, and there are still a few reservations left for the donation-based TreePeople screening. We need clothing, kitchen ware, dishes, small appliances, knick-knacks, purses, baby and kid items, books and more. Donations may be brought to Animal Acres 7 days a week between 10 am and 3 pm. Thank YOU!

Activist of the Month
TONY KANAL

This month, we are honored to recognize Tony Kanal for being an outstanding voice for farmed animals. Tony is the bassist for the band, No Doubt - and he is spreading the message of compassion for all beings to millions of fans throughout the world. This month, Tony chose Animal Acres as the benefit charity for the No Doubt online auction. To support Animal Acres and get No Doubt memorabilia - from costumes worn by Gwen Stefani to instruments they played on stage - visit: www.nodoubt.com. The auction is being held from June 1 to June 11th.

Tony recently became an Animal Acres member and volunteer - and when we asked him if we could feature him as our "Activist of the Month", his first reply was that he hadn't done enough barn cleanings yet! This kind and humble rocker, producer, and songwriter is also one heck of a mucker, and we are deeply grateful that he is dedicating his tremendous talents, resources, and compassion for Animal Acres. Thank you Tony, from your biggest fans at Animal Acres - the cows, pigs, chickens, and other animals that YOU helped save.

Check out the Animal Acres Vegan Sanctuary Blog for vegan links and resources, interviews with vegan authors and activists, and intriguing vegan thoughts! This month, Vegan Sanctuary Blog Writer Philip Steir asks; "Who are we to judge non humans so harshly and with such irrational arrogance? " The post explores one of the most unjust and callous actions we take against the other animals is in our judging them. Visit: www.vegansanctuary.blogspot.com
Animal Acres is a Los Angeles farmed animal sanctuary and compassionate living center directed by Farm Sanctuary co-founder Lorri Houston. Thank you for your support.
