Building the RESCUE CENTER

Animal Acres is working to ensure that animals used for "food production" purposes receive the same humane considerations as other animals, and we actively work with California humane enforcement agencies to ensure that farm animals confiscated from cruelty and neglect are placed at sanctuaries, instead of being sent to auctions or released to individuals who will use the animals for breeding and consumption.

Farmed animal victims of cruelty and neglect are now being provided sanctuary, and a crucial component of this effort has been our ability to provide a facility for farm animal cruelty cases, as most animal control agencies and shelters do not have the appropriate facilities, resources, or personnel to handle farmed animal cruelty cases.

Due to the growing number of requests for assistance, and the number of cruelty cases involving large numbers of farm animals, Animal Acres needs to build a Rescue Center that can accommodate a large number of animals, and provide individual treatments stalls and pens for animals needing extensive rehabilitative care.

Currently, Animal Acres only has a small, three stall barn for a quarantine and rehabilitation area and this barn is also not large enough to provide an area for veterinary supply, feed, or bedding storage.

The Rescue Center will consist of a large 14 stall barn, with outdoor corrals attached to each stall and be fully automated (with electric, automatic waters, tack and feed area, bedding storage, and treatment/medical supply room to allow for efficient animal care and barn cleaning. The Rescue Center will be located on a 6 acre parcel of Animal Acres, with access to city water and electric, and with an existing large fenced corral (400' x 100' corral). The site has a large turnout area for large animal trailers and an area for a caregiver housing trailer to provide for 24/7 emergency care.

To keep our doors open for other animals in need, Animal Acres has an active adoption program to place animals into safe, permanent homes. Once the animals are healthy and whole again, they are placed into loving, forever homes - to keep our doors open for other suffering farmed animals.

Since Animal Acres opened its doors in 2005, we have come to the rescue of over 1,000 suffering farmed animals. We urgently need a larger facility. Please click here to make a RESCUE CENTER donation today - and help us come to the aid of thousands more in need of rescue, refuge, and hope.

Thank you from ALL of us at Animal Acres
